Celebrating women advocating for the sustainable future of Asia!
Honoured to be featured in The Japan Times 28 June’s print edition as one of the young female climate activists driving change in Asia, representing Hong Kong. It is deeply humbling to be listed with my friend and companion in the climate journey since COP25 – Marinel Ubaldo from the typhoon-prone Philippines, chairperson of Klima Action Malaysia Ili Nadiah Dzulfakar from Malaysia, polar explorer Avani Awasthee from India and forest conservation scholar Mayumi Sato from Japan.

In the interview with the correspondent Alex Jackson, I shared our work at V’air Hong Kong building a green low-carbon bottom-up movement through ecotourism and education. I’ve also spoken about our recently concluded sustainability careers mentorship programme Lead for Sustainability, supported by the World Economic Forum Global Shapers – Oxford Hub.
I would like to express my whole-hearted gratefulness to my collaborators at V’air and Global Shapers, who strived to deliver positive impact despite the challenging circumstances. Of course, thank you Alex for the amazing write-up!
Below is an excerpt from the article.
V’air draws attention to climate change and nature conservation in Hong Kong, with a commitment to environmental education, sustainable tourism and policy advocacy in Asia.
“The vision of V’air is to build a green movement in Hong Kong by influencing behavioral change towards a low-carbon lifestyle,” says Chung. “We’ve also established close partnerships with environmental groups from around the world to exchange ideas on city-level decarbonization.”Chung has spearheaded a number of educational initiatives over the past few years. These include launching the V’air Fellowship Program, a mentoring program for secondary and tertiary students in Hong Kong with a passion for sustainability.
The 24-year-old, who is completing her master’s degree in environmental change and management at the University of Oxford, is also a curator of a sustainability careers mentorship program run by the World Economic Forum Global Shapers for students in the British city.
